Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines

The following guidelines must be followed when using Covalent Technologies’ trademarks:

• When the Covalent Technologies trademark appears in print or other textual media, the trademark should be distinguished from the surrounding text by use of a different type size or style (e.g., all capitals) or the appropriate notice (™, ®). For example, “Covalent Technologies™” The objective of this rule is to enhance visibility and let third parties know precisely what Covalent Technologies considers to be its trademarks.

• Whenever a trademark is first encountered in the text of a document or wherever the trademark is used in isolation on product packaging or advertising literature, it should be followed by ™, if the trademark is unregistered, or by a “®”, if the trademark is federally registered. Additionally, a footnote, conveniently located somewhere in the document or in the text, should attribute the trademark to its owner. Thus, if the registered trademark “Covalent Technologies” is used in the text of a printed article, it would be written “Covalent Technologies®” when first used and be followed by a footnote to the effect that “Covalent Technologies is a trademark of Covalent Technologies Inc.” Caution: using the symbol “®” as a superscript with a trademark that has not been registered by the PTO is a federal crime.

• The correct form of a trademark must always be used. Consistency and accuracy are key elements in protecting the strength of a trademark. Accordingly, trademarks should not be modified by abbreviations, translations or connection (hyphens or otherwise) to other words or trademarks. Thus, use of “Covalent Technologies” should not be abbreviated or other form of nickname used, particularly in external communications. All logos must be reproduced in strict compliance with established graphical form and in the correct colors.

Each foreign country has its own trademark laws. Therefore, advice and clearance should be sought from Covalent Technologies before using printed marketing materials with Covalent Technologies trademarks outside of the United States.
