What's Included - Specs
Apache 2.2, 2.0 & 1.3 Web Servers
SpringSource Enterprise Ready Server™ 3.1 is supplied with and unites three fully configured and ready-to-run Apache 2.2, 2.0 & 1.3 Web servers into a single package for the first time; either prefork or hybrid (prefork and threaded) versions can be configured during installation.
Apache Tomcat 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, & 4.1 Java Servers
ERS provides the ulimate flexiblility. Easily select from any of the four included versions of the popular Apache Tomcat Java servlet container.
Authentication and Authorization Services
Authentication provides adaptable security levels, support for X.509 digital certificates, and integration and interoperability with Web serving authentication back-ends. Authorization can limit FTP commands on a per-user and per-directory basis. Access to the data repository is separate from any other part of the host system.
Integrated Apache 1.3/2.0/2.2 Installer
Enterprise Ready Server provides simplified installation of the Apache 2.2, 2.0 & 1.3 servers and their components.
Apache Modules and Applications (selectable at installation)
| mod_perl | mod_cache |
| mod_php | mod_rewrite |
| mod_snmp | mod_proxy |
| mod_jk |
Mod_ssl based on OpenSSL
Mod_ssl protects privacy by integrating 128-bit encryption libraries. Mod_ssl for Apache 1.3/2.0 is implemented as a filter so it can be used in combination with other Apache modules. For example, the authentication module can use the certificate information of the mod_ssl module to authenticate clients.
Certificate Authority (CA) Support
Mod_ssl supports almost all CAs, including VeriSign, Thawte, Entrust, and Equifax. The SpringSource Certificate and Key Management Tool simplifies generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). Per-virtual-host certificates are supported.
Hardware Acceleration Support
Mod_ssl supports the most popular acceleration cards, which can improve a server's response time up to 1000%.
FTP Service
Taking advantage of the Apache 2.0 multiple protocol support, ERS FTP leverages all other filters, modules and services within the Enterprise Ready Server. This is especially useful in authentication, authorization, and security operations, since administrators can authenticate FTP traffic via the same authentication module that is used for HTTP. SpringSource ERS also supports FTP over SSL.
